What is Hive Builder?
Hive Builder is a free online word-building game where players combine roots, prefixes, and suffixes to make real words and review what those words mean.
What counts as a valid word?
A build scores when it matches one of the real words curated for the current root board. Invalid combinations and words already found do not add points.
Can I submit the base word by itself?
Yes. If the root is a valid base word on that board, choose no prefix and no suffix and submit it for 1 point.
How does Hive Builder scoring work?
A base word earns 1 point, a word with either a prefix or suffix earns 2 points, and a word using both earns 3 points. Completing every word on a board adds a 3-point bonus.
Is Hive Builder timed?
No. Hive Builder is not timed, so players can test word parts, listen to words, and review definitions without racing the clock.
What is the difference between Easy and Medium?
Easy uses more familiar roots and combinations. Medium introduces broader vocabulary and combinations that may take more careful comparison.
Can I hear the words pronounced?
Yes. After finding a valid word, use its audio control to hear the pronunciation.
What happens if I end a round early?
You can reveal the remaining words and end the round. The finish screen separates the words you found from the words you missed, with definitions and breakdowns for review.
