The learning loop
Hear it, use a clue, spell it, then learn from the answer
Spell Hive keeps the spelling hidden while you listen. Replay the word normally or slowly, ask for an audio-only sentence or definition, then type your answer or spell it aloud in supported browsers.

How a Spell Hive round works
Hear each word automatically, then replay it normally or at a slower rate.
Use a spoken sentence or definition while the spelling remains hidden.
Type the spelling or use Spell aloud in supported browsers, review the letters, then submit.
Study feedback, try the word’s practice cards, and move through the ten-word round.
Practice your way
Choose Practice, Bee, or Missed Words mode
Work without a timer and use up to three attempts per word. Ideal for careful listening and learning unfamiliar spellings.
Choose one or two attempts and optionally add a 30-, 20-, or 10-second timer for spelling-bee pressure.
Replay words saved locally from previous misses. The round adapts to however many saved words are available, up to ten.
Accuracy and persistence
Score more when you spell the word sooner
Correct answers build a streak. A miss or timeout resets the current streak, while your best streak remains available as a progress marker.
Spell the word correctly on the first attempt.
Find the correct spelling on the second attempt.
Use a third attempt in Practice Mode and spell it correctly.
Build consecutive correct answers and track your best spelling run.
Match the words to the learner

More than right or wrong

See the correct spelling, definition, sentence, and a useful spelling note after answering.
Open short multiple-choice learning cards tied to the current word before returning to the round.
Review misses at the finish, then start a focused round using the locally saved study list.
