Wheel of Words basics
- In Add items, start with your own list, WordHive vocabulary, or classroom turns.
- Name the wheel if useful, then generate words or enter one item per line.
- In Set activity, choose whether results stay on the wheel, then add any optional activity cards you want. Each add-on explains what it does before you include it.
- Review the wheel, spin, and use the selected result.
- In Save & share, keep the wheel on this browser or sign in to save a private copy to your WordHive account.
- Sharing is optional: copy a link, use device sharing, or copy widget code when you want others to use the wheel.
How the wheel modes work
Accepts words, names, teams, choices, or short prompts. Entries that are not dictionary words still work as picker results.
Selects a student, group, or team. Remove-after-spin helps every participant get a turn before repeats.
Word challenge results
When a selected entry matches a WordHive dictionary word, the result can show definition, hint, part of speech, pronunciation text, and a link to the word page.
If a custom entry is not in the dictionary, Wheel of Words still works as a picker. It just shows a general result instead of word-study details.
Saving, sharing, and privacy
- Save on this browser keeps the wheel on the same device and browser.
- Save to your WordHive account keeps a private copy available when you sign in on another device.
- Share creates a URL for small wheels only.
- Widget code embeds a small shared wheel in a website or LMS that accepts HTML.
- Very large wheels should be saved to the browser or your account instead of shared.
- Anyone with a link or widget can see its entries, so do not include private student information.

Wheel of Words is useful for classroom turn-taking, vocabulary warmups, spelling prompts, quick writing prompts, review games, and simple custom picker decisions.
