Synonym Search Rules

  1. Choose Easy, Medium, or Hard before you start the round.
  2. Read the full sentence and notice the highlighted target word.
  3. Use the speaker button if you want the sentence read aloud.
  4. Compare the four answer choices.
  5. Pick the one synonym that keeps the sentence meaning closest to the original.
  6. See the correct answer and explanation right away before moving on.

What makes an answer correct

Each question has one best-fit synonym based on how the target word is being used in that sentence. A word can be related without being the strongest match.

That keeps the game fair, teachable, and more useful than memorizing loose synonym lists.

How voice settings work

Synonym Search includes the same voice settings used in other WordHive learning games. You can open Voice Settings before or during a round, preview browser voices, and keep the one you prefer for read-aloud.

Read-aloud is optional, so the round stays fully playable by reading the sentence yourself.

How scoring works

What you see at the end of a round

When a round ends, Synonym Search shows your total score, the difficulty you played, and the questions you missed with the correct answers and explanations.

This keeps the summary useful without turning it into a long worksheet review.
