How a round works

Lip Reading Word Game keeps the rules simple enough for a quick family round, classroom warmup, or small-group vocabulary activity.

  1. Choose the number of players or teams, turns, timer, and card format.
  2. Pass the device to the performer so only they can see the secret cards.
  3. Reveal the cards and silently mouth the word or phrase in person.
  4. The guesser watches, says the answer aloud, and gets 1 point when correct.
  5. Tap Guessed Correct, Did Not Guess, or Skip Cards, then rotate to the next performer.

Card formats powered by WordHive vocabulary

Cards are drawn from the shared WordHive dictionary using kid-safe vocabulary signals such as part of speech, tags, difficulty, and commonness.

Adjective + NounMake short prompts such as sleepy dragon or bright button.
Emotion + AnimalPair an expressive feeling with an animal for clearer face and mouth practice.
Verb + ObjectCreate phrase-like clues where the performer mouths an action and a thing.
One Vocabulary WordUse a single dictionary word when you want a simpler learning round.

Example turn

Performer: Player 1

Guesser: Player 2

Cards: sleepy + dragon

Action: Player 1 silently mouths "sleepy dragon" while Player 2 guesses.

Score: Player 2 gets 1 point if the guess is correct.

The performer should mouth the words clearly without saying sounds, spelling letters, or pointing at the screen. The device stays in the performer's hands until the result is scored.
