Find the opener

Start with a valid 4-letter word and use the first color clues to narrow the answer.

5

Build the pattern

Move to five letters with a fresh board, fresh answer and another six guesses.

6

Work the clues

Longer words create more possibilities, so confirmed positions become especially valuable.

7

Complete the hive

Solve the final 7-letter word to finish the full Daily Word Hive challenge.

A rules-accurate example

Read the board, then choose a smarter word

In this example, the answer is PLANT. The first two guesses reveal where letters belong and which paths to stop testing.

Green: the letter is correct and already in the right position.
Yellow: the answer contains the letter, but it belongs in another position.
Dark: the answer does not contain another copy of that letter.
Repeated letters: feedback is limited by how many times a letter appears in the answer. If your guess uses a letter twice but the answer uses it once, only one copy can receive a green or yellow clue.

How scoring and hints work

Solve sooner to earn a larger level-completion bonus. Your running score can also include points awarded during play, while each hint subtracts 10 points.

Guess 1+100 points
Guess 2+70 points
Guess 3+50 points

A simple strategy for stronger daily solves

The best next guess should test useful information while respecting everything the board has already confirmed.

1. Open for information

Choose a valid word with useful vowels and common consonants instead of chasing an unlikely answer immediately.

2. Protect confirmed clues

Keep green letters fixed, relocate yellow letters and stop reusing dark letters unless another copy remains possible.

3. Save help for hard levels

Use evidence-driven guesses first. A banked hint is often more valuable on the 6- or 7-letter finish.

Your first-puzzle checklist

  1. Open today's Daily Word Hive and enter a valid 4-letter starting word.
  2. Read every green, yellow and dark tile before building your next guess.
  3. Solve within six valid guesses to unlock the next word length.
  4. Repeat the process through the 5-, 6- and 7-letter levels.
  5. Finish the last level, review your score and return tomorrow to grow your streak.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about guesses, repeated letters, scoring, hints and past puzzles.

Is Daily Word Hive free to play?

Yes. You can play today's Daily Word Hive puzzle for free on WordHive.

How many guesses do I get?

You get six valid guesses on each of the four levels. The levels use 4-, 5-, 6- and 7-letter answers.

Can Daily Word Hive answers use repeated letters?

Yes. An answer can contain the same letter more than once. Tile feedback reflects the number of copies that actually appear in the answer.

How are points calculated?

Each solved level awards a completion bonus based on the successful guess: 100, 70, 50, 35, 25 or 18 points from the first through sixth guess. Your running score can also include points awarded during play.

How do hints work?

New players receive an introductory hint. Using a hint costs 10 points, and only one hint can be used per level each day. Another hint is earned at every five-day streak milestone.

How does the Daily Word Hive streak work?

Your streak tracks consecutive days of play. Return for the new shared puzzle each day to keep building it and reach hint-reward milestones.
